Keep up to date with the activities of the GLTRG.
In 2010 the GLTRG successfully commissioned a book series, Current Developments in the Geographies of Leisure and Tourism, with Ashgate. At the time, the book series was edited by Dr Caroline Scarles (University of Surrey) and Dr Jan Mosedale (University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur, Switzerland), with editorial responsibilities for each volume taken on by various members of the group. The themes of the books, along with contributions, are strongly influenced by session sponsored by the GLTRG at the Annual International Conference of the Royal Geographical Society. The book series is currently edited by Dr Jo-Anne Lester and Dr Tijana Rakić and is published by Routledge.
The aim of the book series is to highlight and promote cutting-edge developments in the Geographies of Leisure and Tourism. Tourism and leisure exist within a dynamic, fluid and complex world and are therefore inherently interdisciplinary. Recognising the role of tourism and leisure in advancing debates within the social sciences, this book series is open to contributions from cognate social science disciplines that inform geographical thought about tourism and leisure by providing diverse perspectives on issues of interest to Geographers. Contributions are of high international standard and provide theoretically-informed empirical content. Additionally, and in accordance with a key objective of this book series, each title facilitates the development of new research agendas in the field of tourism and leisure research. In general, Current Developments in the Geographies of Leisure and Tourism seeks to promote academic contributions that advance contemporary debates that challenge and stimulate further discussion and research both within the fields of tourism and leisure and the wider realms of the social sciences.
